Three easy syrups for coffee and hot chocolate

Since there are so many possible winter treats, I decided to go for one that pretty much everyone can enjoy, grown-ups and children included. All three recipes are easy flavoured simple syrups. They can be added to pretty much anything for flavour, just remember to reduce the amount of sweetener you add (2 teaspoons of syrups is about 1 teaspoon of sugar).

If you prefer a syrup with a stronger flavour, add more of the flavouring ingredients during the steeping process. Don’t be tempted to leave them for longer or the flavour could become too bitter.

All syrups will last for several days, but keep them in the fridge for extra safety. The leftover flavourings (the spices and peppermint) can be frozen and reused again, just keep in mind that the flavour won’t be as strong.

These 3 recipes are just a starting point, there’s no limit to the amount of possibilities! Flavoured syrups make great gifts. And if you have some liquor fans around, you can mix them with spirits. Or you can bake with them.
