About

Cristina in the kitchen is all about easy, affordable recipes and the culture, science and history behind the food we eat.

All the recipes are created by Cristina, that’s me. I do everything that has to do with this website and its social media.

All the recipes are either my creations or my interpretations of traditional recipes. I always try to offer alternatives and ideas, so feel free to suggest your own in the comments. Just don’t say that your grandma/uncle/neighbour does something in a different way, because these recipes are my way of doing them. I go as much as (without becoming Wikipedia) I can into the history and culture behind traditional dishes, but I could never make them the way people who belong to that culture would, and I would never pretend to.

About the website

Cristina in the Kitchen is updated 6 days a week, unless something weird happens! I run fortnightly (that’s 2 weeks for those not in the UK) topics, Monday to Saturday new posts go up.

Sometimes something random could be posted on Sunday.

About me

As of the beginning of 2019 I am 33 and I live in Devon, England. I love food, but I don’t really consider myself a foodie. I enjoy learning about food, its culture and the science behind it. Of course, I love cooking and eating too!

I was born in Argentina, but have spent a third of my life there, another third in Spain and the last third in the UK, with some short stints in Chile and Norway. I also married a Ghanaian man 8 years ago.

I am a fully qualified primary school teacher specialised in modern foreign languages. However, after some years working in restaurants in front-of-house and manage roles I left the comfy waitress shows for a comfy desk chair and became a social media manager and content creator.

I work with companies and individuals to help them with their social media presence, but mostly I write for their blogs and some magazines too. Because that’s my job, I try to keep this website and its social media as far as possible from ‘professional’ as I can, while still looking nice. The main place where my laid-back attitude shows is with the photos, You won’t see staged photos at all. At the end of the day I am incredibly sick of them and I just want to cook something nice and eat it!
